Swedish government declines to give JW financial support

quite recently, watchtower in sweden applied for governmental financial support, as they are entitled to as a registered religious community.

however, the government declined to accept the application, stating that the reason was that the jws do not adhere to democratic values and standards and do not support mainstream values.. the witnesses are upset, because they feel discriminated against.

they state that the financial issue is not the real issue, but to be treated in a similar way as other religious communities.. they have appealed the decision and plan to send a report explaining the witnesses views in more detail.. the branch office chose the religious, pentecostal (assembly of god) newspaper "dagen" to make an interview.. here is the photo report of the article.. .

Impressions from my first KH meeting

i went to my first meeting last week and, well, i guess i want to write some thoughts about how a meeting is for an 'outsider' :-) .

The meetings at Kingdumb Hall are to JWs' a fantasy they think it is about worship ,but in reality it's a sales meeting of extra ordinary effectiveness.

What you experienced was nothing more than product familiarisation and the bonding of corporate associates. Book and magazine sales result in more profit for the company. Once the rank and file are familiar with the product and learn how to overcome objections to their sales pitch they are told to go out , sell and recruit as though your life depends upon it, which of course they think it does. The meeting hall is a corporate satellite with all profits going directly back to HQ. where the chief executives reside with no sweat and no worries.

i have come to understand that people who are jehovahs witnesses are for the most part, good and honest people.

just like people in other religions or for that matter, people who dont practice any religion.

and, like those other people, they also have their minority of people who are selfish, deceptive and not very nice.

How true all that you've said.Well stated Lennie ,now and again a poster comes along and hits the spot ,bulls eye.It's just a pity that the Witnesses who came to my door on Saturday morning are not officially allowed to read it. But maybe some JW in the big wide world might just pick on what you say and be influenced by your thoughts, let's hope so.

Sometimes words, maybe a song, or a poem is written and when you read it you think yes that sums up one's underlying thoughts exactly but you can't find the words to express them. Lenny you did just that.

Will God publish his war diaries please.

what exactly is a war in heaven, and how many casualties in heaven did it create.

where is the sense of it because normally during a great battle preperations are made for injured combatants.

was it a deathless battle , or because it was spiritual was it bloodless?

Was it a deathless battle , or because it was spiritual was it bloodless? Were there advanced field dressing stations, or Generals or courts marshal? There are so many unanswered questions that it seems just a tad too far fetched for my mind to figure. What would the Devil's or God's main weapons be? couldn't be machine guns beacuse the bullets would go straight through,couldn't be explosive devices or there would be bits of angels everywhere. Could it have been psycological warfare ,but then both sides must have used it for it to have been a battle. You can't have a battle if one side has no weapons of destruction. Did both sides believe they had right on their side ? It cannot have been much of a battle if God had had all the weaponry,a bit one sided that. Were there atrocities committed on both sides? Do we need an enquiry?

Conclusion ; It is a figment of someone's imagination, so do not believe everything you read,especially if it's in the Watchtower.

Just a mile down the road from here is Louis Tussaud's waxworks exhibtion, within is the horror gallery, and on display are some of the most notorious villians ever to inhabit the planet. Those deceivers from Brooklyn deserve a special place of their own next to one or two historical waxed evil doctors but the cultic menace group would be classified as the spin doctors from hell.

During the Crimea War officers used to take with them as part of their kit a device called a Thunder Box,I suppose it must have been like a commode but more like a box whilst the ordinary private carried his spade and dug latrines. The New World will function on similar lines the Governing Body and Elders will have the thunderer and someone to empty the contents but everyone else will have to shovel it.

Nothing new there then!

Thunder boxes in the new system will be unbelievably easy to erect in case you need to go in a hurry, and will hold extreme weights as laid down by health and safety. The colour of the seat will of course be glowing white in case you need to go in the night and you don't want to mistake it for ,well who knows what? You will also need to obtain" new world " gelling powder ,super non toxic and turns everything into gellled waste for easy disposal.There will also be available special up market boxes based on the Victorian Thomas Crapper model with the oak seat. There will still be competitive choices in the new world.

we have just seen a lettre sent by the bethel in holland (emmen) to the dutch elders.. the document is dated 14 april 20008. the society doesn't allow that a member of a congregation takes the initiative to open a rest home.

for old brothers and sisters.. we wonder if the instructions were local or spread worldwide.. thank you for your help.

Hi Gary,

Barn Owl Bill is a a person who lives in the area where the Lancashire care homes operate and he takes care of injured birds of prey, by the way of coincidence he operates a registered charity as well, but this charity concerns itself with the care of wild life , particulary the feathered variety.

I imagine he was brought in to give out instruction and entertainment to the residents on all aspects of preying as apposed to praying . By law the care homes have to give their residents some form of stimulus other than the reading of the Society's publications so what better way than spending an afternoon in the care home back garden with someone flying the odd barn owl ,bald eagle and hawk and giving a few demonstrations on swooping down from a great height on to an unsuspecting victim. Unfortunately lions and tigers were not allowed in the garden on the grounds of health and safety. I imagine the instruction went along the lines of ," Brothers and sisters, this will give you some idea of what you get to do when you get out of this place and into the New World ,so pay particular attention to brudder Barn Owl,and for your own safety don't be eating those meat paste sandwiches during the fly past .

I think, by the way, that the Society must have some kind of input into the running of these care homes because of the Kingdom Hall attachment . But the Governing Body are canny, they will not be seen to be involved just in case it goes pear shaped, then they can always turn round and say, "nothing to do with us."

The care home in Blackpool was the original Jah Jireh home started by a Witness who owned a guest house.Because it is a charity it has to be run by a board of trustees. They began to expand operations into this niche market by opening further homes all this became quite lucrative as can be seen by their published accounts with fees being paid to members of the board of trustees , who are all Jehovahs Witnesses in good standing. The care home business is a booming industry with substantial assistance from the state and elderly infirm residents, in some cases, having to sell their homes in order to pay for their care. The guest house owner made a shrewed move from a declining holiday trade into a boom area of operations.

Allthough it is claimed that the business has nothing to do with the Watchtower UK it has been stated that an official from the London Bethel went to an opening of a home and he seems to have given it approval by being in attendance.

Of course all this charity work is fine but it makes a mockery of the Watchtower's spouted predictions during the last, and now this century. What a contradiction in the printed word and the reality. The infirm and elderly publishers and pioneers can now witness for themselves as to the real truth because it's staring them in the face here and now.

It would be interesting to see the letter circulated by the Holland Bethel and to hear the opinions from Brooklyn and read their spin on the matter.

anyone noticed how the act of shunning is accompanied by a lack of manners and sense of human decency ?

She is probably more afraid of you than a thirty ton truck approaching with all its lights on and the horn blasting. You see she has been taught that because you quit the Org. you are one of Satans little helpers .It might appear to be bad manners but in reality it's naked fear that is causing her to react in the way she does ,she cannot help it, the words from the Watchtower will be sounding off in her head, warning her not to be contaminated by association.

All this shunning nonsence reminds me of the old saying " sending someone to Coventry" which came about when someone did not agree with a form of action or policy and nobody would talk to the so called offending person. Years ago their was a film made about it called The Angry Silence, but that was about industrial relations. Come to think of it ,because the Watchtower is an industry of book sellers ,it probably applies just as well. In any case shunning practices are evil and a form of bullying.

Forgive us our trespasses works two ways but the Witlesses do not see it like that.
